§ 18-65. License required.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in or continue in the business of pawnbroker in the city unless he has paid the $500.00 annual license fee to the city controller and procured the license as a pawnbroker as prescribed in this article.

    (b)

    It shall be the duty of the city controller upon payment of the fee to issue the license applied for to the person entitled thereto. The license shall be designated a pawnbroker's license. The license shall bear the date of January 1 of each year, and no reduction shall be made for any part of the year elapsed at the time of making application for the license. For all licenses issued for the remainder of the year expiring December 31, issued after the expiration of the first quarter, pro rata reductions for the unused part of the license shall be made.
