§ 2-101. Order of business.

  • The business of the common council shall be taken up in the following order, unless by a two-thirds vote the council shall suspend this rule:

    (1)

    Call to order.

    (2)

    Pledge of allegiance to flag.

    (3)

    Roll call.

    (4)

    Approval of minutes.

    (5)

    Petitions, communications, remonstrances, and memorials.

    (6)

    Report from special committees.

    (7)

    Ordinances on first reading.

    (8)

    Resolutions.

    (9)

    Ordinances on second reading and public hearing.

    (10)

    Privilege of the floor (members of the public to speak only on nonagenda items for such period of time as is allowed by the presiding officer).

    (11)

    Unfinished business.

    (12)

    New business.

    (13)

    Adjournment.
