§ 34-93. Interior wall and ceiling finish.

  • (a)

    Interior finish materials shall be of a minimum class III flame-spread throughout the home.

    (b)

    Class III flame-spread has a flame-spread index of 76—200 in accordance with the state building code, chapter 42 (675 IAC 13-2.2).

    (c)

    Asphalt paper, cork, cardboard, carpeting, foam plastics, plastic materials, or other finish materials that will contribute to the rapid spread of fire or give off dense smoke or toxic gases shall not be permitted as interior finishes.

    (d)

    The attaching of interior finish materials, other than dry wall, plaster or natural solid wood of three-fourths-inch minimum thickness, directly to wall studs or to floor or ceiling joists, is prohibited.
