§ 46-55. Definitions.

Latest version.
  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Airtight door or airtight lock means any door which is tight enough so as not to leave sufficient air to enter, making it possible for any person confined to suffocate. The fact that a person has suffocated after being confined in any such ice box, refrigerator, or other container shall be prima facie evidence that the door or lock was airtight. Any attachment to release a door from the inside must be of sufficient construction so as to be accessible and easily released by children.
