§ 54-86. Excavations, street obstructions to be lighted.

  • (a)

    Any person making any excavation as provided in this section, or any excavation made within the city limits in any street or sidewalk, or near to or adjoining any street or sidewalk, shall mark the excavation with a flashing light placed during each night of the existence of the excavation, at the point where the excavation approaches the nearest street or sidewalk. The flashing light shall be lighted at dark and kept burning until daylight to indicate the locality of the excavation.

    (b)

    Any obstruction placed in any street or on any sidewalk within the limits of the city, including piles of dirt, lumber, or other material temporarily placed in the street during the construction or repairing of any building, or part of building, shall be marked during the night by a flashing light so placed as to indicate the obstruction to persons passing along the street or sidewalk. The flashing light shall be lighted at twilight and kept burning until dawn each night during the existence of the obstruction.
