§ 54-116. Improvement permit.

  • (a)

    Application; required information. Whenever any person desires to construct any cement sidewalks or curb within the corporate limits of the city, he shall apply to the city engineer stating the number of feet to be constructed together with the number of the lot and description of the tract of land or parcels of ground to be improved.

    (b)

    Issuance. It shall be the duty of the engineer to issue to each applicant a permit to make the improvements. The permits shall be printed in a convenient book form, one copy to be retained by the city engineer in the book, and one detached and given to the person procuring the same. No permit shall be issued on any street, alley, or other public place after the board of public works and safety has passed a resolution advertising for bids for the improvement.

    (c)

    Time limit; renewal. All permits shall be limited to 30 days from the date of the application, and permits on streets, alleys, and other public places covered by any improvement resolution shall be limited to the date of the resolution advertising for bids. Permits may be renewed if the board of public works and safety has not passed a resolution covering the improvement.
