§ 58-42. Use of streets by certain vehicles.

  • (a)

    The city traffic engineer is authorized to determine and designate those heavily traveled streets on which shall be prohibited the use of the roadway by motor-driven cycles, bicycles, horsedrawn vehicles, or other nonmotorized traffic, and shall erect appropriate signs giving notice thereof.

    (b)

    When signs are so erected giving notice thereof, no person shall disobey the restrictions stated on the signs.

    (c)

    No person shall drive or operate, or cause to be driven or operated, any road engine, traction engine, tractor, or other heavy vehicle having lugs or spikes attached to the tread or wheels thereof on any asphalt-paved street or alley in the city limits. However, the engine or vehicle may be operated on such streets and alleys if guards or protectors are used to prevent damage to the pavement by the lugs or spikes.
