§ 66-53. Jurisdiction of board of public works and safety.

  • The board of public works shall have exclusive jurisdiction and authority to do the following:

    (1)

    Serve as or designate a department to serve as the enforcement body for sections 62-59 through 66-61;

    (2)

    Order, control, and regulate the sodding, seeding, and maintenance of lawns, and the planting, maintaining, and removal of trees and shrubs within the limits of the public streets and tree and lawn areas within the city;

    (3)

    Order, control, and regulate the removal of dead or diseased trees or portions thereof, which constitute a menace to public health and safety, wherever located within the city;

    (4)

    Adopt and enforce rules, regulations, and specifications relative to subsection (2) of this section; and

    (5)

    Regulate and prescribe the terms and conditions upon which permits for the maintaining, planting, and removal of trees and shrubs shall be issued.
