§ 101-125. Application of article.

  • The provisions of this article shall apply to all installations of electrical conductors, fittings, devices, appliances, and fixtures, hereinafter referred to as "electrical equipment" within or on private and public buildings and premises, with exceptions as provided in section 101-177 and with the following general exceptions:

    (1)

    The provisions of the article shall not apply to installations in railway cars, commercial or governmental radio transmission beyond the point of energy to the individual units, nor to installations and equipment employed by an electrical supply or communication agency in the generation, transmission, or distribution of electrical energy, or for the operation of signals or the transmission of intelligence in the exercise of its function as a utility.

    (2)

    As used in this article, the term "reasonably safe to persons and property," as applied to electrical installations and electrical equipment, means safe to use in the service for which the installation or equipment is intended without unnecessary hazard to life, limb, or property.
