§ 18-570. Handwashing and skin preparation.

  • (a)

    Handwashing facilities shall be readily accessible in the same room where tattooing is provided.

    (b)

    Hands shall be washed with soap and running water immediately before putting on gloves and after removal of gloves or other personal protective equipment.

    (c)

    Only single use towels shall be used.

    (d)

    The area to be tattooed or body pierced shall first be thoroughly washed with warm water containing an antiseptic liquid soap. A single-use sterile article shall be used to scrub the area.

    (e)

    After shaving and before tattooing or body piercing has begun, a solution of 70 percent alcohol shall be applied to the area with a sterile single-use article.
