§ 54-21. Permit application; fee.

  • (a)

    Whenever any person desires to construct, alter, or change any private entrance, driveway, curb, or approach as herein mentioned, he shall make application to the city engineer on a form to be furnished by the city engineer, giving such information as the form may require. It shall be the duty of the city engineer to make, or cause to be made, an inspection of the proposed work, to certify compliance with the plans, regulations, and specifications as set forth in this article.

    (b)

    It shall be the duty of the city engineer to issue to each applicant a permit to make the improvement. The permits shall be printed in a convenient book form, one detached and given to the person procuring it, and the other to be filed in the office of the city engineer.

    (c)

    All permits shall be limited to and expire after 30 days from the date of the issuance thereof.

    (d)

    The city engineer shall collect from the applicant a fee of $5.00 for each permit issued for a residential driveway and a fee of $25.00 for each permit issued for a commercial driveway.
